When I block facebook on home computer everyone shouts at me, how to just make it 'unusable' so that it just look like a site problem.
By unusable i mean no button or links on that page work OR layout totally disturbed OR any other major annoyance?

If you're running AdBlock or some other content filtering, drop in this line to the filters list:
This stops the browser from loading all of the JavaScript that comes from that domain. Now check out what Facebook looks like. It's just a header, everything else is blanked out. Site still opens up, just nothing shows. Looks like the site is broken "for some reason." |

Such methods do not pay off. Find out what out real problem that is embodied by over use of Facebook, lack of family activities etc. People are not stupid, they will realise that it is not the Facebook that has the problem but you are the only one in the house with enough know how to screw up their usage of facebook etc. When they figure that out you will not be a very liked person, and if in future there are problems with any site you will be considered the culprit. Do not police what people do but offer them something that will solve the real problem. But of course solving the real problems requires intelligence and effort and unlike just setting up a filter can not be achieved by many. |
