Are there websites that can tell what DNS server was used to access the site? I am currently configuring our router, testing our connections with different DNS servers to see which is better to use. My ISP may or may not be using a transparent proxy which could affect usage of DNS, so I would like to know for sure if the router is indeed using a different DNS server and which DNS server was used (to facilitate testing). |

Your browser requests DNS resolution from your ISP or whoever, and it gives the browser an IP address. The browser then connects to the website using the IP address. The website has no knowledge of how the browser obtained the IP address. Also, after your computer sees a DNS entry, it caches it for awhile. |

I found these websites that can show you the source IP address of the recursive DNS resolver used (which could then be used to identify which DNS server was used): http://myresolver.info |
