We have a training program that mostly involves training videos and we want to track users who have viewed videos hence completing some training.

Do you already have a website?

If yes: assuming the videos can be viewed only after siging in, you can track which user is clicking on which link by using an intermediary page which first logs the user information and then takes the user to training video.

There was a startup which did exactly this. I don't remember the name right now, but let me search and get back to you. Alternatively if you are going re-ivnent then you can use Youtube and its API to do most of the work. – user8509 Feb 11 '11 at 13:45

Enterprise Study have just added this feature in release 4.4, it's known as ES TV. It allows you to build a course from one or more videos, hosted by you, ES or YouTube.

There are quite a few you can use, and prices are all over the map, and there are some free ones too.

  1. Moodle is a popular FREE option (if you have the time and technical skills to overcome the learning curve, and a web site already).

  2. The Atrixware Weblearning E-Learning System can do what you need for a reasonable price (disclosure - I work at this company).

  3. If you have lots of money, a SCORM LMS (Learning Management System) is what you need -- SCORM (the spec) does a nice job of tracking usage. One I know of which is popular is Blackboard (but get the checkbook ready).

Moodle and others you mentioned are very broad products for eLearning, but I don't see many features for managing, uploading, and tracking training videos. – jarofclay Feb 10 '11 at 19:18
Moodle should have a plug-in or two for that. The Atrixware product does video uploading and tracking through learning presentations right out of the box. Blackboard should also have a plug-in of some kind to do the same, although not certain how much extra that would be (and like I mentioned, already quite expensive already).
