For regular events I currently enter an event into my Google Calender and set it the recur annually. Sometimes I remember to set a reminder for a few days or a week in advance but I have lost track of a few things like insurance renewals and birthdays. Is there a better way to track these recurring events (mostly annually) that will either send me an email or SMS a few days in advance? Ideally I would like to be able to view all events for the year without having to search the whole calender. |

It sounds like you are already using the right tool, Google Calendar, but you may benefit from using it slightly differently. I'd recommend creating a new calendar which you use for annual events only. Go to Settings > Calendars > and click on "Notifications" next to this new calendar. Here you can set up the default reminders for events created in this calendar. This will solve the issue of forgetting to set reminders. Plus, it has built-in support for email and SMS reminders. To see all your events in a single list, simply hide the other calendars (by pressing on them) and switch to "Agenda" view. This will show you all your events in a single list (by default it shows you events up to exactly one year from today). |

Remember The Milk app will do it. You can create a list just for Birthdays or use the Tag Birthday to be able to view all Birthday at a glance. You can have RTM mail you reminders. |

I happen to use Yahoo Calendar, only because I was using it before Google Calendar was any good and never moved off of it. Now, with the iOS 4 upgrade on iPhones, the built-in calendar app syncs live with Yahoo and Google calendars. You'll get popup notifications on your reminder times. Not sure what Google Calendar does, but Yahoo Calendar lets you set two reminder intervals from between 14 days before down to 5 minutes before. I usually set reminders 3 and 7 days before for most things, like doctor appointments, pay bills, etc. |
