I understand that XMPP protocol allows connections from multiple clients to the same account. What I'd love, is to be able to access my rather significant IM account list from multiple devices at the same time (Home PC, Work PC, and Smartphone). Google-Talk & Facebook Chat are OK with this. But Yahoo!, MSN, etc. only allow single connection.

I'd love to find out if there is a site that combines all those protocols/accounts on the back-end side and exposes them via a single XMPP or other multi-account system?

Meebo lets you log into multiple accounts on the following services simultaneously:

  • AIM
  • Yahoo!
  • Windows Live Messenger
  • Google Talk
  • ICQ
  • Jabber

There's a web app client, as well as native clients for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry, and you can be logged into multiple devices at once.

Just tried Meebo... it does not allow me to be logged into my Yahoo/MSN accounts from more then one location. – Igorek May 7 '11 at 7:27
Hrm, I wonder what's going on. I've got Google Talk, Yahoo, and AIM accounts associated with my Meebo account and it lets me log into them all from my computer and my iPod Touch simultaneously. Did you log into the individual accounts, or add them to a Meebo account? – pidge May 9 '11 at 2:09

You added accounts like this, right? It certainly looks like Meebo shares the login to a chat account between all the instances logged into that Meebo account - when I log out of Yahoo on my iPod, it goes away on the desktop too. When you're logged into Meebo multiple times, it should show all of them under the "Welcome to Meebo!" as "You are signed in from # locations". They suggest making sure you're not logged in to MSN/Yahoo accounts from anywhere else, as that will boot Meebo off. – pidge May 9 '11 at 4:03

I use eBuddy and rarely have problems with it.

It's great when on the move since I can login to multiple accounts even when using etc.

i prefere imo.im over both meebo and ebuddy

it works with all majer clients including facebook and skype

one slightly annoing thing...(although this may not bother you) is there is NO account per say. you just log in with one of your accounts and it will (usualy) log you back in to your other accounts that you have connected previously.

but all in all I realy do enjoy using imo.im

to answer your question about combinding them in to one stream...I am not sure exactly what you mean. do you wan't to access all of them in one account? or just combine the buddy list. if you wish for the later imo does this. but it doen't have the ability to combine contacts (i.e. if one person has both a fb and gtalk. and make them show up as one contact)

I want to combine everything together. I also want to be able to have my home PC be connected to all my MSN's, Yahoo's, etc. as well have my Work PC be connected to the same MSNs, Yahoo's, etc... and my phone too. – Igorek May 7 '11 at 18:53
I don't know of a service other then the main clitnt (ie use skype for skype and yahoo for yahoo) that you can do that... I do know if you use a PC that Pidgin can log in to multiple accounts. on multiple computers. but MSN will kick you off if you log in to another pc...and thats MSN's choice not yours. – mjrider May 7 '11 at 19:45
