I can't "verify" the registration because the Gmail site states that I need to verify it through my telephone. But I don't have one. What can I do? Get another e-mail service provider?

I don't know any step within GMail at which you would need a phone? It is always optional and you will usually find a "skip" button! The exception might of course be if you talk about "two-factor-authentication" (for which you need a smartphone or SMS), but otherwise... – grunwald2.0 Mar 29 '13 at 22:37

It doesn't actually need to be your phone that you verify your account with. It can be any phone number as long as you input the verification code in to Gmail.

Signing up without a phone

If you don't have a phone, you can use a friend's number to request the code via text message or voice call. You don't have to worry about your friend's number being attached to your account. Google won't use this number for anything else besides account verification.

I hope no one here provides their phone, this could be used for phishing / compromising account security ! – grunwald2.0 Mar 29 '13 at 22:35
