Every time I try uploading one of my homemade .apps to any filesharing site, I get a server error. I have a solid connection, so it makes me think my problem is content.

Is there a special way or place to upload .apps?

An .app is not a file, it's a folder. Mac OS X just hide that to make it easier to launch.

And since standard web-based file uploader can't upload folders, you'll have to put it either in a .dmg or .zip it, to upload it.
