When writing a post (or a comment on a post) in Yammer, is there any way to add basic text formatting such as bold or italic text?

There isn't anything in their documentation about it. So it looks like no--unless someone knows of undocumented tricks? –  Mufasa Sep 6 '11 at 10:32

There's a feature request in their moderated feedback forum:

http://feedback.yammer.com/forums/145382-how-can-we-make-yammer-more-useful-for-you-/suggestions/2326551-support-for-markdown-in-posts

So, I guess, if it would be an implemented or developed feature it would have a different status. I suggest you should simply vote for this feature and expect it to get noticed.

The feature request status is declined, as of Mar 6, 2012. So I guess we will not have any kind of formatting in Yammer any time soon. –  Jonik Dec 2 '12 at 19:35

The link is actually broken now. –  Alex Nov 28 '13 at 10:24

You can use Yammer notes, which provide formatting, such as bolding, italics, headings and bullets.
