I like using Trello, but my company might block the site at any time so I am uncomfortable really depending on it. Is there anyway to buy a version to host within my company?

No, there is currently no ability to do that.

@Rich Armstrong - do you know if there any open source clones that would allow self hosting. this is a big blocker for us – leora Nov 20 '11 at 13:08

We don't mind! At Fog Creek, our commercial products compete with open source every day, so it's not a dirty word. We also contribute heavily to some open source projects (like Mercurial) If history is any guide, open source is not exactly synonymous with intuitive interfaces and beautiful design, so I'm not sure one will ever emerge for Trello, considering that's its main selling point. @leora, sorry this is a blocker for you! – Rich Armstrong Nov 22 '11 at 16:48

Why don't you give Teambox a try? It's great! I personally find it better than Trello. It has an open source version as well, for you to host on your own private machines.

Note that the open source version of Teambox is only v3 which doesn't look anything like the site version (which is v4). It took me a few weeks to get it all setup. It was such a disappointment. – Ian May 18 at 18:46
