Does anyone know of a web app that will produce a sitemap for a web site? I'm not talking of mapping an existing web site, but before we even start prototyping a site. I like to draw out the flow between pages before I start a project in order to ensure I keep the number of actual pages to a minimum. Currently I use Visio, but I would prefer an online version where people can add comments online without having to email files around. Thanks in advance Sniffer |

As mentioned above, gliffy.com and bubbl.us are both very good for sitemaps. I use Gliffy myself. If you also want to prototype / wireframe the pages, there are apps such as www.protoshare.net and www.Balsamiq.com (think they now have a webapp in addition to their desktop app). |

Dia (http://live.gnome.org/Dia) is an open source alternative to MS Visio. I use Inkscape, however which creates SVG graphics and is wonderful for doing mockups and designs. It is an open source equivalent of Adobe Illustrator. |

LucidChart allows you to create an interactive prototype when designing a website. You can even make it clickable so you can see what happens when you click on buttons or menus. LucidChart also has real-time collaboration so you can invite as many users to either help you design or review the prototype. Ideal when working directly with clients. Best of all, it's a fraction of the cost of Visio. |

An option could be Justinmind Prototyper. It has some cool features related to information flow description that you might find interesting for your needs. In addition, you could later wireframe all the involved screens and eventually add all the interactions you feel important to describe your ideas. The cool point here is that you can begin describing the very basics of your website and later evolve it adding additional information. You can end up having prototypes with really complex interactions.
