Is there any way to know how many times each item of a feed in Google Reader has been read by feed subscribers?

Read by you only or by other Reader users? – Eight Days of Malaise Dec 22 '11 at 15:01

Another good reason to use Feedburner to publish your feeds. – Al Everett Jan 30 at 13:27

It will be possible only for Google Reader to have this statistic. While this is a good to know statistic, this is probably not shown as it may be trivial for most users, divert attention from their +1 button click count and add to the clutter.
