I've a T-Mobile prepaid number I'm switching to Google Voice. Can I do so once I'm no longer in the U.S., perhaps no longer receiving SMSs messages on the phone?
If so, how do they authenticate that you own the number? I'm imagine Google SMSs you a password or something. If not, how long does the process take? Could I just do it from the Wi-Fi at the airport?
As an aside, any recommendations on lists of services similar to Google Voice to peruse?
