Web Applications Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for power users of web applications. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I've seen ways to do it the other way around, but can I set up Google Buzz and Facebook so that when I post a status on Facebook, it also appears on Google Buzz?

UPDATE: Unfortunately, it seems that as soon as one method appears, Facebook changes so that it doesn't work anymore. It was difficult to decide which answer to accept, but it seems that ping.fm is the most reliable.

Another option is to use http://ping.fm, which allows you to post to ping, and then have that update your status to multiple networks. I've been using it for years, and it works really well. You can update from text message, Android/Iphone apps, web, email, API, etc, and it instantly updates all the networks you set up, including Facebook and Buzz. It does photos as well.

If you go to the second half of this article, it outlines how to do this. In short, you find your Facebook ID, use it in the URL http://www.facebook.com/minifeed.php?status&id=[yourid], then add that as a feed in Google Buzz.

Edit: I did a little investigation and found out minifeed.php no longer works. But this does: 1. Go to http://www.facebook.com/notifications.php 2. Under "Subscribe to Notifications" click on "Via RSS." 3. In the URL of the page you get to, change "notifications.php" to "status.php".

This is an RSS 2.0 feed for your own status updates. I haven't tested it, but it looks valid.

I found that article before, but it doesn't work for me. Is there some privacy setting I have to turn off first? – ptomato Jul 12 '10 at 10:11
I did some research and updated my answer accordingly. Take a look and let me know how it works! – JoshMock Jul 15 '10 at 14:22
wow, adding a custom feed to Google Buzz is painful, I'm testing this and I'm still struggling to make it appear in the "Connected sites" section. – mbillard Jul 15 '10 at 15:00
Hmm. If you change "notifications.php" to "status.php" and then go to that page, it says "This feed URL is no longer valid. Visit this page to find the new URL, if you have access, http://www.facebook.com/minifeed.php?status&id=12345". If you add the status.php link to Buzz, then the minifeed link shows up in the list of profile pages that Google has "found" for you. Neither of them show up in the "Connected sites" section. – ptomato Jul 16 '10 at 9:57
Thanks for the research by the way! How did you do it? I'd like to be able to find this stuff out for myself too. – ptomato Jul 16 '10 at 9:59

You can also do it the other way.

Buzz to Twitter to Facebook.

I found a promising solution on a Blogger-hosted blog involving a Facebook app that creates a public feed of your status updates.

I tried it, but it doesn't work either... have you got it to work? – ptomato Jul 28 '10 at 19:57
Nope, just pulled it up. I actually don't use Buzz, so this question is stretching my limits. – dgw Jul 29 '10 at 3:14
To get this to appear in Connected Sites, you have to enable "This is a profile page about me" and also have the checkbox for turning on your profile URL checked. Unfortunately, it still didn't work for me. – ptomato Jul 30 '10 at 13:41

There's a Google Buzz Sync application on Facebook now.

That application is for the other way around... – ptomato Aug 7 '10 at 15:15
Ah, my apologies. Misunderstood the question. – R.K. Aug 7 '10 at 15:41
