Web Applications Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for power users of web applications. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I realize this is not a critical thing but the fact that I cannot figure it out is quite annoying. I am finding it very frustrating to say the least because of the intermittent nature. That said, mostly the images are not displayed. The thumbnails for the FB user are always displayed to add to the puzzle. I have tried searching and I cannot find anything to explain it. The closest thing I found was to ensure the browser downloads images but that does not make sense because it only happens on FB.

Here is an example image of the problem

So I have a Mac and a PC. It is not occurring on the PC. It is happening on the MacBook Pro Lion. It happens on Google Chrome and Safari. Yesterday I was on the school wireless. All images displayed perfectly. When I came back home initially the images were perfectly. After a restart the images were no longer displayed. It is not happening on any other web pages.

I have done a complete dump of cache with no effect.

So I think I have found the cause, I reinstalled my recently returned router. My old dlink is 2.4ghz. The netgear has 2.4 and 5 ghz. The Mac is now on the 5ghz and my overall connectivity is much better, and I can see all the images. That said I don't want to jinx it.

You can post a screenshot. Just the image url part. – Bibhas May 27 '12 at 0:01
Could be some add blocker or something like that. The pictures are not hosted on facebook.com, but on a CDN, that has a different web address and you might be blocking that particular address. – Alex May 27 '12 at 3:57
I appreciate the help. I do not have an ad blocker installed. like I said, it worked fine at school and when I came home and restarted the images were no longer displayed. Are the FB thumbnails different than the other images. – diek May 27 '12 at 4:01
Capped your bandwidth? Slow Internet? – Fogest May 27 '12 at 14:10
For argument sake let's say it was a bandwidth issue: 1. Why would it not have impact on the pc? 2. I turned off the PC and the Mac is the only thing running, no change. 3. Why is it only impacting FB and no other pages? All that said the culprit much be a combo of the Mac and my wireless, they are the two commonalities. – diek May 27 '12 at 15:32
