One of my friends is an aspiring novelist and he has asked me to be his science consultant and make sure everything he writes is at least somewhat plausible scientifically. He has just given me a map of his first fictional world, Mercator projection style as seems to be standard, and I would like to convert it to a 3D model or a Goode Homolosine projection so he would have a 3D model of it to reference since he is terrible at geometry. Is there a free app or website out there that might allow me to do this? I have heard of google maps being used to create maps for fictional worlds, does it have a feature like this?
