Web Applications Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for power users of web applications. It's 100% free, no registration required.

If one hasn't used Facebook for a while and would like to upload many photos since last time, is it possible for them not to appear in friends' newsfeeds. That is, so not to flood people's feeds or annoy them. I would like them to be visible to friends if they browse my profile but not show in feeds.

One tactic considered was to upload photos but to private albums and then make them public a few weeks later, but would that make them suddenly appear in the newsfeed. Do you know?

There must be a desire to control how updates are seen by other people, to be understated sometimes. With Facebook as it is, it seems that any update posted is given the same level of publicity, quite a blunt and ungraceful instrument really. So I'm looking for some kind of volume control.
