Web Applications Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for power users of web applications. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am attempting to embed a Google Group forum into a web page as described here: http://support.google.com/groups/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1191206.

Everything works great as long as you are already logged into a Google account that has already been added to the group.

If say a user has not yet logged in and the click on the "Join Group" or "New Post" or anything else requiring authentication (depends on what permissions you set) you get redirected to the standard Google login screen; so far so good.

After you login you are then redirected to just the embedded page without the original page you used to be embedded in. And since it is the embedded view of the group you are not only missing the original surrounding page you were embedded in, you are also missing the standard Google group interface. All you have is the embedded forum without actually being embedded.

Should you happen to visit the web page with the embedded forum and already be logged in with a Google account that has permission everything works great and you stay on the embedded page.

Does anyone have ideas for a fix? Know exactly where I can post the problem to Google? There are apparently product forums for other Google products but no "Google Group" for "Google Groups".

Described where? If you meant to link there isn't one. – Al Everett Aug 15 '12 at 22:51
Oops. Just added the link to the embedding directions. – J.Zimmerman Aug 15 '12 at 23:51
