I have a desktop PC at home and a notebook for studying. I am currently using Thunderbird to manage my mails, but the problem is, that I cannot keep the data between my two computers syncronized.

Is there any trustable web-app, that "collects" all my mails from my mailboxes? So I just have to visit this web-app to see which mails I got, send mails, etc.

Does your email provider offer IMAP? That would certainly solve your problem. –  Al E. Sep 22 '12 at 3:21

I can offer you no answer for the mail you send but you can use the following to get all your mail in both computers inbox.

In your account settings you can setup what to do with mail you just received. Set one machine to: leave messages on server. Set the other machine to: delete messages on server after 30 days

The 30 days setting is just a random number and can be 10 or 40 days, i dont know how often you check your mail on the computer you use less often. Right now both computers are probably deleting the mail after you download it.

Most of your mature webmail apps should be able to do that. Certainly Gmail can poll POP3 mailboxes without issue.

It's a 3-step process:

  1. Open Settings (found under the "gear" icon" and select Accounts and Import. Click on Add a POP3 mail account you own.

  2. Enter the email address.

  3. Fill out the necessary server information and choose the options you want.

I expect other webmail hosts will be similar, but Gmail is what I use.
