Is there any service that provides accurate driving directions to a location at a specified time of the day? By that I mean the service should take into account the average traffic for that specific timeframe and route accordingly.

I am not looking for real time traffic. I want to be able to pre-plan my trip three days prior (in the evening)—the service should give me the best possible route on that day at that time.

Preferably looking for a service that works in Australia.

Google Maps offers drive time in current traffic and a view of traffic conditions on a given day, but unfortunately not drive time on a given day. It isn't automatic, but you can do some planning by seeing what the traffic would be like on a given day on possible alternate routes.

Head to Google Maps and select your start and finish points as usual. Then select 'Traffic' from the dropdown at the top right: Traffic menu on Google Maps

You should then get a menu on the lower left of the map that allows you to change the date/time of the traffic you are looking at:

Check out the map and try some different routes - avoid the red and black bits!

Now can you be magic and have them update the estimated travel time? :p – jcolebrand Nov 13 '12 at 1:50
