Is there a way to configure GTalk in Google Apps for Business so that all members of a domain immediately can chat with everyone without each person having to individually send invites to everyone else?

Contact sharing? – grawity Oct 10 '12 at 19:01
@grawity Doesn't look like what I'm looking for. Contact sharing is enabled, but you still have to individually invite people to get them into your GTalk list. – Jeremy Privett Oct 10 '12 at 19:45

There is no way to automatically add everyone in your domain to your chat list.

However, your Apps administrator can enable a setting to automatically accept invitations to add another user as a chat contact within the same domain. This means that instead of everyone having to manually accept chat invitations, all you would need to do is:

  • Enter the username in your chat widget on Gmail
  • Hover over to "Invite to Chat"
  • The user will automatically appear in your chat list and you can begin chatting

Documentation for the Admin to enable this setting can be found here under Chat invitations (bottom of the page): http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=60767
