Twitter displays private message oddly in conversation box when there is a double quote in it

Question

When I send a private message to a friend in twitter, the double quotes causes the message to display oddly:

I send:

foo"bar http://google.com

My friend receives (the message on Wheel icon > private message is correct. When you click on this message and enter the conversation box, you have the buggy one displayed below) :

foo&quothttp://google.com 28lhM

I think that the double quote means something for twitter, (like @ and #), but I can't find what. And even it shouldn't break the message like this.
