I saw this ad this morning:

unlock-the-full-list-of-who-s-viewed-your-profile-with-linkedin-premium

Is there really no way to avoid the awkwardness?

This page describes a solution but the settings menu they are suggesting does not exist anymore.

You can browse anonymously with Firefox, Chrome or even IE9. This is not the easiest solution but at least, it's a workaround – JMax Nov 6 '12 at 10:21

Very similar to the link you provided:

  • Under your name (top right) select settings
  • Under Privacy Controls select Select what others see when you've viewed their profile
  • Select You will be totally anonymous

Thanks! I notice a contradiction between "Unlock the full list" in the ad and "totally anonymous" in the privacy setting... – Nicolas Raoul Mar 7 at 12:58

Why exactly are you concerned about that?

In my case, people seeing that I visit their profile usually leads more views to my own profile, which I think is good. The more people that see your profile, the more people that know about you. On a professional network, visibility is key!

You want people to know when their profile was visited and by who. This is a great way to start a conversation with someone. I was offered an interview when I noticed someone came to my profile. I visited him back, and we had a talk, and we met some days later. It would have not been possible if profile views were anonymous!

Don't underestimate that!

Some of my questions are rhetorical. I don't mean that I am worried (or not), but I think a sizable proportion of the informed users are worried. So I thought that would be an interesting question. – Nicolas Raoul Mar 7 at 12:55
