Web Applications Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for power users of web applications. It's 100% free, no registration required.

For example using alexa.com I can get a ranking of the most popular websites at the present time.

However is there any web-page which has such a ranking for every year in the history of the web, 2011, 2010,...,1992?

You might check the Wayback Machine of the Web Archive:

Crawls of http://www.alexa.com/topsites (Internet Archive Wayback Machine) (this link might break after clicking it, because StackExchange seems to encode the asterisk character; just submit the URL again in the address bar of your browser).

For example here you could see the page from 2009-04-01:

http://web.archive.org/web/20090401002727/http://www.alexa.com/topsites

http://www.alexa.com/topsites has been crawled 84 times going all the way back to April 1, 2009.

It could be that the URL was different before 2009-04-01, so you'd have to check the alexa.com homepage in the Wayback Machine.
