Can you view your previous chat history with a friend on Facebook?

There doesn't seem to be a way to view your previous history. That's the reason I use meebo to Facebook chat instead.

I shall reciprocate then. – phwd Jul 14 '10 at 16:02
Another option is Digsby, which also saves your chats, although it is a desktop client not a web client. You need to decide which you prefer. – eidylon Jul 14 '10 at 17:20

You can view recent conversation history by opening a chat window with your friend. At this time, you cannot view older conversations or conversations with friends who are not currently online.

+1 I found that page 10 seconds after you. – Senseful Jul 14 '10 at 15:32

Not if you are just using the base chat within Facebook. There is an app that claims to do it but I don't think it is very reliable. (I haven't tried it myself though). If you use another client to do Facebook chat such as Trillian or Pidgin or anything that supports Facebook chat, those clients may have the ability to log conversations.
