Web Applications Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for power users of web applications. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I currently am paying yearly for a picasaweb account upgrade, and then I sync it with my desktop picasa app. It's great for photos, if not a little expensive, but it doesn't work for videos as far as I can tell.

So are there any web apps that allow you to upload video, and pictures, preferably view them, AND the space isn't outrageously overpriced? (I don't want to spend $20/mo for Dropbox.com)

Edit: Something with an iPhone app would be sweet too...

Also note that I would love to be able to store 720p video straight from my phone, not compressed. – mike the mike Jul 15 '10 at 18:21
How much space do you need? – mbillard Jul 15 '10 at 18:26

Remove the word "best" from the title. You would have seen the red banner "The question you're asking appears subjective and is likely to be closed." just below your question title when posting - it's there for a reason. – ChrisF Jul 15 '10 at 19:23

Have you tried smugmug?

Might be something to look into though if you have some big videos, it may not work.

This is an amazing solution. Free trial, unlimited space, videos longer than 90 seconds, and as a bonus it actually syncs with my Picasa software?! $60/yr is a lot, but its unlimited, so I feel like the price is worth it. Thanks wy. – mike the mike Jul 15 '10 at 19:57
The price is totally worth it.. and 60$/year is not that much if you think about how much data they are storing for you in a safe place.. and you are able to access it wherever you are :D and in case your hardrive will be damaged you'll probably spend more than $1000 to try save your important photos and videos.. :) – Lipis Jul 18 '10 at 14:37

Maybe you could make use of Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), the prices seem decent.

Any unlimited shared hosting plans would also do the trick (GoDaddy, Dreamhost) for a small price (9-15$/month).

I would definitely use Dropbox. You can easily access them from any computer and iphone / ipad as well!

Sorry, did not see that you do not want to spend $20/mo. – Jeff Epstein Jul 15 '10 at 19:21
$20/mo would be fine... but 100gb? Thats not very many HD videos/pictures. Maybe for a TB that would be so bad. – mike the mike Jul 15 '10 at 19:24

SOOOO close - but 90 seconds max per video? That's not entirely functional for any real video. – mike the mike Jul 15 '10 at 19:52
@mike the mike Yes flickr is horrible for storage, most photographers I know end up going to pro package on flickr and then start to use SkyDrives. I just had to add details as @Jangwenyi thought it was good enough just to post the link. – phwd Jul 15 '10 at 21:04

http://bitlite.com is another good one and you can stream your audio and Videos. It also allows you to upload files from other locations and even Bit Torrent

Notice that web hosting is different from data storage. Most hosting providers have terms that prevent using the storage for personal backup; uploaded content must be part of the hosted website. DreamHost does in fact offer 50GB storage specifically for personal backups, but that's not a lot for media.

You could install some photo sharing software inside your domain, and in that case DreamHost would be an excellent choice. But you'd have to manage that software yourself, as compared to simply using Picasa. And such software isn't as fully featured and integrated as Picasa & Picasa Web is.

BTW I'm using Picasa&Web for video content too, not only photos. And it works well.
