Web Applications Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for power users of web applications. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Like a browser equivalent of the programs menu, are there any webapps that will allow us to set the apps we use, provide a search bar, and other functionality and be utilized as a homepage for our apps?

It would be awesome if it had a box with autocomplete, like Launchy (Windows) or Quicksilver (Mac), but for our browser apps.

It looks like Google Chrome will be getting this soon, but until then, what can we use?

Chrome Apps

And if it doesn't exist, what features should I be looking for or what features would you want to see in a homepage for webapps, aimed at productivity apps rather than games.

Some apps that almost have this functionality but aren't quite what I am looking for include http://myfav.es/ and http://start.io/, and the Fast Dial addon for Firefox.

Is this a rephrase of webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/3442/… –  phwd Jul 15 '10 at 22:18

Seems close, though this one has more detail about specific features the OP is looking for. –  Rebecca Chernoff Jul 15 '10 at 22:30

@phwd, I have looked at that question previously, and I believe that what I am looking for is different enough from what that question talks about to warrant a separate question. –  tobeannounced Jul 15 '10 at 22:40

Could you explain why they aren't what you're looking for? –  Gelatin Jul 15 '10 at 22:49

I am looking for something that will know all the webapps that I use, and then I can use a search bar or dropdown box to select the relevant apps as I need them. If nothing exists that is what I am looking for, I would use the 'Awesomebar' for this purpose. The other 'simple homepages' are aimed more at a small number of your most visited sites, whereas I would want this to contain all the webapps that I use. –  tobeannounced Jul 16 '10 at 6:10

I think this is exactly what you want.

Yes, I think that looks pretty awesome and inline with what I am looking for! It is a shame that the search bar doesn't just go to regular Google, but other than that it seems pretty awesome. Thanks for the suggestion! –  tobeannounced Jul 16 '10 at 5:55
