Web Applications Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for power users of web applications. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I've been searching a lot, but I can't find a great CMS that can be versatile to accept different types of news or reviews and also to hold a social part where users can modify their experience to suit their preferences. I know how to code in php and and I'm already thinking about writing my own CMS, but it would just be better to have something like that...any ideas?

Ps: I already checked Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress with caution and many few others in many other languages with less cautions(dotnetnuke, plone, opencms, locomotive, docpad, ...)

am not sure why you didnt like drupal since you can customize it to fit your requirements, and here is a link to OpenPublish which is built using Drupal.
