List of (popular) Webmail services

I've been using gMail so long, I can't see straight. I'm tired of ridiculous load times, people I don't know chatting me, and infinite redirect loops when my wife logs in from the same computer I use...

What are the other options out there? And what are the plus/minus vs gMail?

This question has been asked before and already has an answer. If those answers do not fully address your question, please ask a new question.

Googe is testing the multiple logins from the same browser lately.. so if that's an issue it will be solved shortly :) goo.gl/A9ws –  Lipis Jul 17 '10 at 21:39
You can always hit the "turn off chat" link at the bottom of the page... –  ceejayoz Jul 18 '10 at 1:12

Been around for ages and works well!

Not as hip, but I personally like it.

Now, if your question was about fixing the issues rather than other providers, my answer would be this:

For the loading times, are you using the new interface or the older one? There is a list at the bottom. You could try older version or basic HTML. alt text

In Settings > Chat there is a setting that acts as chat permissions: alt text

If you aren't already, try the 2nd setting. Though as you can see, the first option still shouldn't have random people messaging you. I've never had this issue and you can see my setting.

As for the infinite redirect loop, you could deleting the GMail cookie. Are either of you checking the box to remember you when you sign in?

Yahoo Mail is quite decent. GMX (.com, not .de) is probably the most recent webmail service - it includes storage and other stuff - and recent enough that you may even be able to get the username you want.

If you have the option of installing a client, I would recommend having a look at Thunderbird.

This will solve all 3 problems you listed in your question, and is the simplest solution as it avoids you having to export and forward your mail, etc.

One thing to watch out for is that you need to make sure to enable IMAP in your Gmail settings for Thunderbird to work and sync with Gmail properly.
