I really hate top banners on websites that scroll with the page. They block content, break the continuity of my page down button, etc.

Is there a Chrome extension to turn these off?

An example is the red banner at the top of the page on http://www.salon.com/2013/03/02/trashing_sheryl_sandberg/

According to Salon's source code, it's called a "flyout banner".

That banner on salon.com is not as bad as the one forbes.com has. My Page down button still functions fine though, but I also find it VERY annoying having part of my screen being taken up by this. – Fogest Mar 3 at 3:26
Any idea how to block these? (PS - I meant in breaking Page Down that it's no longer a "page", meaning I can't continue the last line on screenful 1 as the first line on screenful 2. It still scrolls, just now its not a page full) – Travis Leleu Mar 3 at 9:57
I mean you could use something like AdBlock, and block the div id that matches the banner for the specific website. – Fogest Mar 3 at 15:42
Serious question - will someone please explain to me how this question is "off topic"? I asked about how to remove an annoying component of many web applications, preferably via a chrome extension. Seems pretty on topic to me. – Travis Leleu Mar 5 at 20:56
General browser extensions are off-topic as well as recommendations without prior research. Try looking here superuser.com/search?tab=newest&q=chrome%20extension – phwd Mar 6 at 3:01
