This question pertains to the use of WordPress.com, i.e. as such should be correctly posted here according to http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/faq.
My problem, which I noticed on several wordpress.com and wordpress.org websites, is that if I subscribe to replies on my post comment via wordpress.com, then this doesn't work as intended and described to me by the Wordpress account system. This means instead of me receiving only notifications about actual replies to my post I receive an e-mail notification for every random dude who posts a comment on the same post! Which is enfuriating.
As far as I understand the Wordpress subscription mechanism clearly states and distinguishes between "replies" and "all comments", so why is that this (still) doesn't work? And has this issue not been addressed yet, I am sure I am not the only one noticing this?
The strange part is, if I looking the subscription management console, there is no distinction between "replies" and "comments" (it's all just "comments"), so it seems the dialogue with which I signed up for "replies" is misleading and actually wrong?
I would love to see a distinction between "replies" and "comments" - it makes a lot of sense - but does my experience mean that this feature doesn't currently exist or was demoted by Wordpress?
