I am trying to add the Google Talk channel to my IFTTT account, and no matter what I do, I cannot get a PIN sent to me in an instant message.

I have followed the instructions for enabling chat outside Google Apps and setup the proper SRV records on my DNS for my Google Apps domain, and I have checked them with Olark's SRV Checker. They check out fine and report:

_xmpp-server._tcp.mydomain.com - Correct

I have added the bot@ifttt.com contact to my Google Talk list, but I still never receive a PIN from the bot. I have contacted IFTTT support via Twitter and their reply was simply "unfortunately, some G Apps account just don't work well with the bot -- perhaps try another Gmail account?" which is not an acceptable answer to me.

I don't really know what else to try. Please help.

This question came from our site for computer enthusiasts and power users.

I had the same issue while activating the Gtalk channel, here's how I solved it:

Just waited a couple of minutes (like 10) after adding the bot@ifttt.com to my contact list, and suddenly the bot was online, then after 5 mins it was offline again (I was multitasking so I missed that chance to press the "Send Pin" button), so I waited again, and it went online after other 5 mins, then I activated it.

Here is how IFTTT makes a disclaimer on that:

"This Trigger fires every time you send a new tagged message to bot@ifttt.com with a single hashtag anywhere in the message (e.g. #IFTTT). NOTE: bot@ifttt.com may go offline periodically due to traffic volume."

Apparently it is a matter of luck (current site's traffic).
