I work with someone who uses Gmail to read her personal Comcast emails, and to simplify her work, I told her to add her work Gmail to the account (using the "Add Account" button under her profile pic), and now when she tries to go to her personal Comcast Gmail again (the "Mail" link at the top changed to "Gmail"), it's now asking her to create a Gmail address... we've found no way around it, and typing in a new Gmail username now asks her to verify the account with her phone number!!! What?!
I've already made several posts on Google Product Forums for Gmail, and they think I'm crazy. They think she never had the ability to read her Comcast emails in Gmail without a Gmail address, yet I saw the interface myself, I saw her click her profile and select My Account, add her work Gmail, click into it (it opens a new tab) and read her work email there, but then when she went back to the other tab and refreshed, it asked her to create a Gmail!
She's totally stuck out of using Gmail for her Comcast emails now without creating a Gmail address and she doesn't want to do that or give her phone number for verification.
It really seems like she had some kind of legacy set up... but we can't figure out how to restore it! If I could just remove the added account and go back to the "Mail" link... that would be stupendous!
