Web Applications Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for power users of web applications. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have the problem that when adding a Google Plus page background image for a product page for an image editing and image quality related product aimed at professional photographers Google's strong recompression of that image is totally unacceptable. They force us to use giant resolution images only to use extreme JPEG compression on them. The big resolution does not help anyone where there is no detail at pixel level anymore. Anyway whatever I tried looked awful and I use a flat gray PNG profile image ever since.

My question is if there is any way around it. Hosting the images on Google Drive or some other form of workaround...
