My IT department switched hosting from Google. They copied all of the files in my Google Drive and switched off the account. Unfortunately I not only had files, I also had Gsheets specific to Google. I have the files, but when I click on them they try opening a link that doesn't exist. I really need the info in this file; please advise.

What about contacting your IT department? –  Jacob Jan Tuinstra Sep 6 '13 at 18:33

As you've discovered, those Gsheet files are just pointers to online resources. With the account closed, they're worthless. The only practical way to get that information back is to get your IT department to restore your account and, assuming the spreadsheets still exist, export them to some other format before the shut down the account again. –  Al E.
