Web Applications Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for power users of web applications. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have two machines (Windows + Ubuntu) that both run Chrome and might both be open to Gmail. I use chat and hangouts extensively throughout the day, but would like only my Ubuntu machine to play notification sounds.

There is gmail setting for sound; however, this appears tied to my login profile, so whatever I change on one machine cascades to all others.

I would be happy to just replace the Windows .wav file associated with Gmail notifications; however, since it's based on Flash, I don't think that's an option.

Short of muting the Windows machine completely, are there any ways of achieving this goal?
