I receive a weekly alert from Facebook with which friends have birthdays upcoming in the next week. After I read it I would like to be able to schedule a post to appear on their wall at the appropriate time, without having to remember to do it on the appropriate day. Is this possible?

Try schedule-it. It's a Facebook app that lets you schedule posts to your walls and your friend's walls. It allows you to specify the time and date.

if you are using facebook api to post on your friends wall, then there is a chance for scheduling the wall post. Run a cron job daily at specific time to check the notifications of your friends and then post on their wall if their birthday coming.

Possible? Yes. Does such thing exists? VERY unlikely. Very specific needs.

I'm sorry if I have to be blatant but consider coding it yourself, it will be a fun experience.

HootSuite has a scheduler to facebook and facebook pages

I haven't tried it out myself. But it looks like this web-app called sendible might be able to help you.

hootsuite and SN managers let you schedule tweets and facebook posts, but not really wallposts. So I guess your options are limited – thunderror Sep 8 '10 at 8:10
