I know Twitter doesn't offer this service directly, but I'd like to be able to send direct messages to followers for a special event. Is there a third-party service out there that can manage this?

You could write a script to do this, but it's considered bad etiquette to do that. Your followers already see all your posts in their stream, blasting DMs to all of them would be the same thing, only significantly more annoying. |

You might want to keep an eye on TweetBeeper. It almost provides the functionality you want. The developer sounds like he will continue adding features to the service. |
