I was playing about with my git repo and tried the GitHub pages feature but I'm not sure how to get rid of it. The check box on the repo admin is disabled.

Simply delete the gh-pages remote branch:

$ git push origin :gh-pages

Deleting Pages doesn't doesn't appear to work too, if this article is anything to go by.

I would suggest starting a support discussion and they should be able to delete them for you.
