As I'm sure is the case with many others, I frequently have to walk users through various processes. Often the situation is complicated enough that it deserves visual guidance and/or complete desktop sharing. There are many options for installing software to do this, but it is often a burden for a user to install such software, especially if is for one time use. Are there any entirely web based applications for doing screen sharing and using remote desktop functionality?

I recommend Fogcreek Copilot. It's not quite completely browser based, but you don't need to install it. It's also free to use on weekends, so you can give it a shot to see if it'll work well for you. |

I haven't tried it myself but Google Chrome has an extension for remote desktop in the Chrome Web store - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chrome-remote-desktop/gbchcmhmhahfdphkhkmpfmihenigjmpp |

TeamViewer gets my vote - it does require the person hosting the screen share to run an app, however they don't have to install anything (.dmg for OSX and .exe for Windows - I believe Linux is supported as well) You can use the web-based client/viewer or download a client to your machine to view/control the remote user. Super powerful, well implemented and free for non-commercial use. Even has a free iPhone client app! Almost too good to be true. |

I use a company called My Screen Share it is a new webinar company that is also completely web based. I got so sick of both myself and my participants having to download software to do the meetings... they shouldn't have to download a bunch of stuff to their computer when they are joining MY webinars! It is super easy to use and gives you more bang for your buck. They offer a free trial and after that it's only about $25 a month. If you go to their homepage you can see tons of demos, features, and compare them to other companies. |

I use LogMeIn. It is great, though you get bad video quality as others I think |
