Since the suggestion page still lists Port a number to Google Voice as one of the options, that post is still valid. Google will remove it from the feature request page once they implement it. Originally, Google Talk (and the Gmail and Orkut integration) was an entirely separate product from Google Voice. Next, Google Voice was integrated into the Gmail Google Talk implementation and then, recently, into Google Hangouts (Google+) as well. Google Talk itself, as a standalone product, has been more or less killed. Google's goal right now is ...

Turn on Call Screening I had a similar problem with forwarding to my skype-in number. Since you can't change the delay before voicemail for either of them, I enabled the Call Screening option. When a phone picks up, google asks you to press 1 to take the call. Since your work voicemail doesn't press 1, Google keeps ringing all other phones until the 30 ...

In order to do this, the iPhone's voice-mail system must pick up the call before the Google Voice voice-mail system does. When are you consuming the minutes? In US (simplistically speaking), you pay when you are using your cell phone handset, both for incoming and outgoing calls. If the call is not ringing your phone, but is using computer, I would say there would be no charge. The backend architecture is the same. The Ggoogle Voice was an acquired company (Grand Central), ...

1 + 3. Your method should work. See here. (The comments indicate that it works for calling people too) I believe that there isn't another way of figuring the numbers out. For incoming calls you can press * to switch the call to another one of your phones. However this capability is not currently available for outgoing calls. From what I know, the only current way to do it is through your Google Voice administration.
