You have to deactivate or uninstall the Skype Add-on. In newer versions there is also the option to just turn the highlighting off in the settings of the Add-on. Here is a link to the Skype FAQ: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA657/How-do-I-use-Skype-Click-to-Call

Between 30 and 70 kbps, according to this thread on their official forum: http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=32510

Skype had some major problems. In some regions you are still being redirected to http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/StatusUpdate/ which itself redirects to the blog. The same issue when testing with Web-Sniffer: Connect to 78.141.177.141 on port 443 ... ok GET /account/password-reset-request HTTP/1.1 Host: login.skype.com Connection: close Accept-Charset: ...

It is not possible. There is a discussion about this on the official Skype forums.

I built http://OpenTokRTC.com to show people multi-party video chat functionality. It eventually replaced skype and google hangouts for me and my friends. Its open sourced and free, so feel free to take it for a spin! Unfortunately, it doesn't have all of the features you require (like screen-sharing), but it nailed everything else. Hope it helps!

If you are signed in to Skype but not making any calls, Skype will use on average 0-4kbps. When you make a call, Skype will use on average between 24-128kbps. From here: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1417/How-much-bandwidth-does-Skype-need Of course, it refers to the desktop version, but I think it's a fair assumption to extrapolate it to the ...

Not being snarky - have you tried another browser? Perhaps it's not rendering quite right in Chrome but it might work in IE or Firefox.

I've heard of Imo.im but have never tried it.

Just incase any developers out there are wondering who to stop this form mucking up there pages, or design, you could try and insert some hidden code, for example: <span style="display:none;">_</span> Example: 01234 <span style="display:none;">_</span> 123123

I think IMCapture is pretty good - available for Mac or Windows IMCapture for Skype (formerly SkypeCap) captures and records audio and video calls made from Skype. Recorded audio calls are saved as MP3, WMA or AAC files and video calls as Quicktime Movies (MOV), MPEG4, MPEG, VOB, PSP MPEG4, SWF and FLV. Calls can be replayed, shared, ...

I run into many sites that dislike + in the email address (though never one that accepts it at first and then rejects it later). Workaround: get a spamgourmet account that forwards to your gmail account. spamgourmet.com lets you create "+"-style addresses without actually using plus signs (like webapps.barrycarter@spamgourmet.com)

The costs are absolutely nothing. By allowing PayPal to use your bank account, you are saving PayPal money - they don't have to pay your credit card company a transaction fee. That is the preferred mode of PayPal nowadays and they are doing their best to motivate people to finance their PayPal accounts with their bank accounts. From my point of view, I'd ...

If you want a web app then you might want to try tinychat. It supports audio and video calls and you don't need to install anything.

From the Skype FAQs: "If you no longer want to use your Skype account, you first need to remove all your personal information from your profile... If you want us to remove your Skype Name from the Skype directory, you need to contact our Skype Customer Service. It may take up to two weeks to remove your name from the directory." Following that guide will ...

I believe one place that can be found is under Profile -> More Options -> My Preapproved Payments -> Update. There may be places too. Clear as mud, eh?

Here is a quote directly from the Microsoft Community Forum: "please be informed that this is not possible since it is by design that Skype is already integrated in the Web Messenger." I don't know if it will resolve the issue, but you can try unlinking your Skype and Microsoft accounts.

Both Google Voice and Skype Out, and similar services, are still VOIP. Your voice gets digitized and "carried" from your computer over the internet, until it reaches a gateway server that knows how to contact a phone number and de-digitize the info back into voice etc. But your voice is definitely making its way over IP to get to its destination (as well ...

Have you tried videolink2.me? It supports multi-user video calls (even without registration), has chat and allows to protect video conference with password.

You could try ubiqq: http://www.ubiqq.com/

What you are asking for is not possible in Google Talk or GMail integrated chat at all. And also it all depends on their cannot be any third-party extension or tool to implement it. It all depends on the service. It is possible in Skype because Skype allows it. Different services take these things differently. For example, here in SE, we can edit a comment ...

Google Hangouts, obviously. Up to 10 people in a single video call. Free.

We had the exact same problem at the office when going for Skype 5. After some weeks, we all downgraded to Skype 4, which you can still found here and there on the Internet. You will then still be able to connect to your Skype-friends. You won't have the possibility to do multiple video-calls at the same time (which you will have to pay for anyway) but if ...

It appears that Skype has updated their system, and it finally let me reset my password recently when I went back to check (they never emailed me back). It's possible the problems will return eventually, so I changed my email address with them to one without the +.
