comment Automatically open ICS files in Google Calendar
I don't see a way to add a handler from that dialog box. Just a list of handlers (which is blank) and a Done button. I see the same thing on Chrome 32.0.1700.19 beta and Chrome 33.0.1707.0 dev

Application specific passwords still provide full google access, they just make it easier to revoke after you realize there is a problem. The tool should really use oauth which limits it to only accessing calendar.

Thanks. You should add this as a comment to other answer or even just edit that answer.

comment How to receive email notification on about new Facebook messages?
I'm wondering if it has something to do with installing the Facebook and/or Facebook messenger app on my phone - perhaps Facebook then routes all messages through them?

I am missing the Messages option also.

comment Is there a way to search/filter gmail emails by the absolute domain without subdomains (e.g. google.com, but not plus.google.com)
Actually, it doesn't seem to be working me at all now. It seems like the search engine ignores the periods.

Yes, from:"@google.com" unfortunately works the same as from:@google.com. It really seems like gmail is ignoring the @ sign.

PS, Thanks for your blog. It's helped me out in the past :).

I like the idea, and it eliminated txt.voice.google.com, but for some reason I still see plus.google.com. I've looked at the original message and it sures looks to me like your trick should work. The From line is From: "Google+" <noreply-2xxxxxxb@plus.google.com>

comment How do I enable file extensions for all files?
It's probably worth noting that Google Drive, DropBox, SugarSync and really every other cloud storage service does support this...

I created a feature request for this for Spotify. You can track and vote for it at community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-Ideas/….

comment Gmail filter criteria being ignored - always mark as important
My last comment wasn't a complaint, it was a clarification that marking something answered does affect a questions visibility. And I'm fine with you marking it answered, I was just a making a suggestion.

just a clarification, it does have some impact. The question will no longer show up in "Unanswered". Some people (including myself) monitor that list for the tags they know.

I have the same problem and this really doesn't answer it. Maybe if you didn't mark this as answered so others will see this as an open question and give us additional suggestions?

comment How can you get the URL of a wall post in Facebook?
Sadly, its another example of the trend of looking clean at the expense of intuitiveness, google does it, and the iphone has a lot of examples also (who would ever intuitive think to drag an app onto another app). The tech generation (of which I am a part) will play enough or search to find these things out, but the less tech savvy and older generations really suffer.
