I built a mashup that shows Twitter trending topics for worldwide locations using their API, though not side by side & all at the same time. Check it out - applab.azurewebsites.net/trends.aspx

comment How can I backup all of my tweets?
As with all web apps, there will be changes. This solution worked at the time it was posted. Google Reader will be dead in a few months (July 2013).

The links http: //www.linkpass.net/ & http: //linkpass.net/ don't work for me. If it is something else, please add a hyperlink to that site.

comment SMS from within Gmail in India
@Sathya Sorry, I didn't actually go through the link but I had seen that page when this feature was publicized a few days back and it mentioned only eight mobile service operators as this news article will confirm - ibnlive.in.com/news/… Airtel & Vodafone Karnataka were notable exclusions earlier. Google appears to have updated the page in the last couple of days. The service still doesn't work for several operators that I have tried with.

comment SMS from within Gmail in India
As per the link you shared, not all Indian mobile carriers support it. Among the major ones, Airtel & Vodafone in some regions are missing from that list. That said, I've had the issue you mentioned with a supported provider and I hope it is temporary.

comment How to know list of people who gave a Google +1?
@BusinessInelligence Blogs posts in the Blogger admin pages list +1s for posts that have been liked. Clicking on the +1 link sometimes reveal name of the person who +1-ed it. It appears that the name shows up only if users have opted to display it through some setting.

comment Is there any way to preview the URL of a t.co link on Twitter?
I wrote a Google Mobilizer bookmarklet that lets links on your Twitter timeline be opened with Google Mobilizer - mvark.blogspot.in/2012/04/… This lets you see minimalist, text-only content related to those pages without the fear of contracting malware from dubious links.

comment Is there another email service that threads conversations like how Gmail does?
On the Hotmail sign up page, you have a choice of picking a either a hotmail.com or live.com account & still use it for Hotmail. So you may check if there is live.com user name matching your requirement is available.

comment Can I save some pages of a book in Google Book?
Ok, so the book is available for viewing but not download. If there is a "EBook Free" button for any book (like out-of-copyright books mentioned here - googleblog.blogspot.com/2006/08/download-classics.html), a download-as-PDF link is available.

comment Google Docs ImportXML can't scrape anymore?
Thanks, that works but isn't it surprising that the sample in the official docs doesn't work. Has the syntax changed or are their new rules for it to work? How should I frame the query to get the meaning of a word from thefreedictionary.com. This is what I tried =ImportXML("thefreedictionary.com/p/taciturn","/html/body/div/…)

some importXML samples that I tried didn't work either. In fact, the example in their Help fails too: =importXml("toysrus.com";; "//a/@href") - support.google.com/docs/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=155184

comment Google Reader - Note in Reader Missing
@Nathan Tornquist - true, this is only a workaround for a Google Reader feature that is taken off. If there aren't too many, you could post titles of old articles to Twitter as well. By subscribing to your own Twitter feed within Google Reader, you can archive it.
