Enterprise application developer and software architect, focusing primarily on the Microsoft stack and web platform.

I currently work as a consultant in Waltham, Massachusetts. (A job I found on Stack Overflow Careers, thank you very much.) I'm interested in lots of extra-curricular software development activity (user groups, conventions, panels, etc.) as well as general local geekery (gaming, geocaching, anything fun).

Career aspirations involve becoming a better developer, a better architect, and maybe even getting published once I find something about which to write.

comment Allow Public Likes But Not Comments?
Looks like I got it working with a status update instead of wall posts. So if Person A posts to Person B's wall and they begin a discussion, I couldn't make it open for public comments. But if Person A just posts a status update and Person B comments on that, it can allow public comments.

comment Allow Public Likes But Not Comments?
Seems reasonable. Worst case scenario is that I can write an application which will poll the comment threads and delete comments. However, I can't seem to figure out how to make the interactions public. It's still not letting non-friends and non-friends-of-friends comment/like.

comment How Can I Really Turn Off “Close Friends” Notifications?
Ah, I hadn't noticed those little x's in the notification menu itself. I'll see if this does the trick. Thanks!

comment Twitter Application That Maintains History?
I've so barely used Twitter yet that it hadn't even occurred to me to watch it through Google Reader. But I use the latter extensively so that should work out perfectly for me. And I definitely trust Google's data retention a lot more than Twitter's :) I may come back someday asking about locally archiving Google Reader as well (don't mind me, I'm a local-archive data retention nut).

comment What's a good webapp for keeping a daily log?
It's definitely a risk in that regard. I wonder (and may post this as a separate question) if there are any Twitter client interfaces that address this.

comment Is it possible to utilizing the “Send mail as” GMail feature from SMTP?
Ah, looks like you're right. I guess I'm getting rusty :) The steps in the Mail application should be the same, though. More information: macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20010401111133239
