Auto-offline chat in Gmail chat Re "only if the invisible user starts the chat with you" - This is not the case. You can initiate an "offline chat" with a user by mousing over their name and clicking "offline chat". Additionally, you immediately find out if they are online and invisible or actually offline by the helpful message you get in response automatically. It is either "$USER is offline and can't receive messages" or "Messages you send will be delivered when $USER comes online." |
