I'm passionate about coding and researching the history of technology as well as exploring where technology is leading.

I used to work in flight simulation doing both hardware implementation (electrical design, wiring), web development (design, development, webmaster), as well as software development (desktop development in C#).

I'm a big fan of both using and contributing to Open source projects.

I am the creator of the pypreprocessor library that can be found on PYPI as well as Google code.

Disapora looks like the best option so far, even though it's still a few months from the mainstream. OStatus is great, but I see it as one component of building social networking sites, not the whole package. I'm going to wait to see if Diaspora will gain traction in the main stream before giving it the ol checkmark.

-1 You missed the "ONE entry per post and NO duplicate", why don't you make new answers for both Toodledo and Feedly? I don't think they've been mentioned yet.

I threw away my personal web server because of Dropbox. It's amazing the number of different ways the public folder can be used (as long as you don't need server side support).

@Ian I disagree. Stack Overflow provides a rich, user interactive experience; tracks personal state/profile information; and provides a personalized experience. Just because it isn't presented as a make-a-webapp-look-near-identical-to-its-desktop-counterpart format doesn't mean it isn't a webapp.

Not sure why it irritates you. It's a community wiki so the downvote doesn't hurt your rep. Why don't you add new answers for Meebo and Basecamp and get rid of this answer. Neither hav been presented in 'one example per answer' form yet and they're both great/commonly-used webapps.

@Patrik thanks for the update. I wonder if the devs understand that 88mph isn't really fast at all. Goofy university geeks. ;)

Project notes, Class notes... It makes them really easy to share.

+1 ;) There's a reason those toolbars come with a performance hit to surfing the web. They're spying on you.

+1 sounds like a pretty good litmus test to me. Especially, considering that almost all email is sent across the wire unencrypted. It wouldn't take a genius to write a silent trojan that could sniff your email for keywords like 'password' and re-transmit them to a specified source.

comment Is there a web app for scheduling web tasks?
@tobeannounced you can execute selenium scripts in Chrome, you just won't be able to use the IDE to create them. It's probably a good thing that web automation is hard. If it were made any easier there would just be more people using it to spam.
