2012 Moderator Election

On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

Nomination Primary Election

Hi, I'm Justin, and I'm young and passionate tech user. I have grown up with the internet and the tech that goes with it. Along my journey I have obtained staff positions on many big forums 2 of which had over 1 million members. I pride myself in being as patient and fair as possible.

There are so many web applications out there, and there will only be more as time goes on, but for this growth to progress users need to know how to use the new tech. I love helping people to the best of my knowledge and teaching them new things they didn't know before. No question is a dumb question. Some questions may be poorly asked, but I respect peoples questions and respect them as a person even if the question does seem somewhat vague.

With my extensive experience in moderation I have had many disputes that I have had to deal with, but I have managed to, with some firm moderation solve these disputes.

Overall I want to be a Moderator so, I can say to myself later in life "I helped a lot of people, and I helped a lot of people have a better experience when receiving help". I get a nice feeling knowing that I helped some out!

I'm the Evan Carroll, a Web Application developer. Most people know me on Stack Exchange. I believe technology can be a force to solve many social problems. I look forward to suggesting Web Applications that can solve problems, and I also lookforward to solving some of the many social problems that plague this platform.

I understand the detriments of a government that lacks transparency, and so I promise to always publish conversations with other members and moderators. I'll even go so far as to submit all attempts of bribery and coercion by Jeff Atwood or Stack Exchange to Wikileaks.

My goal is justice. Justice requires transparency and accountability. Every action must be reasoned. And, there is no just rule without the consent of the majority -- this is something I'll never forget.

Hi, I'm Sathya. I've part of Web Apps Stack Exchange since its inception - from the Area 51Proposal stage through the Beta phase and 2 years on, still participating however I can.

Being part of the Stack Exchange network for well over 3 years and as a Moderator on Super User for well over a year, I'm quite comfortable with the Stack Exchange Engine, the way Stack Exchange community works and what is expected from Moderators.

I'm quite active on Chat and can be reached there pretty much throughout my working day on IST(GMT+5.30).
