I recently watched someone edit a Google document while three others, in different locations, were also making edits and/or using the chat facility to comment on the process.
The response was painfully slow. By that I mean person A (who I was with) would type into the document and it would take perhaps ten seconds to see the keystrokes reflected on the screen.
This made me wonder is a Google Doc waiting for all other involved in the edit to receive the update before reflecting the change on each screen ?
What is the nature of the cooperation between all those involved in a "shared edit" session ? I would be interested in any documents which described how the functionality is implemented.
All of this is with respect to a straightforward browser based Google Docs session.
Thanks.
