example of duplicate emailsI'm using Mac Mail 9.3 (OS El Capitan 10.11.06) as a catch-all for several email accounts, including one I created with Gmail.

At some point during the past couple of weeks, I began to notice that emails I know I received and read and left in my inbox were disappearing. I haven't figured out what is going on with that, but in searching for the missing emails I noticed this:

When I use the Mac Mail search function, it retrieves dozens of archived iterations of emails I've composed. These are versions of an email that I saved to the "Draft" folder. These are incremental versions of a single email that I eventually finished and sent. I've attached a screenshot that shows this.

I think this is only happening with emails I compose using my Gmail account, but I'm not totally sure.

I want to save only one version of a sent email -- that being the version I actually sent -- and I'd like it to live in the "Sent" folder. How do I stop whatever is doing this from creating multiple iterations, or, barring that, how do get it to delete the iterations once the email is sent?

I really need to use the Search function to tackle this "disappearing inbox emails" problem, which is a whole other ball of wax.
