Facebook has recently added the ability for pages to join groups. When I enter a group as myself, I'm presented with the choice join the group as one of my pages. However, the choice is just for a few of my pages and not for all of them. Why is that?

Why not all pages?

  • How is it showing for those pages which do not have option to join group? Can you show that? – serenesat Dec 21 '18 at 7:38

Those pages aren't showing at all. When I click this option I see only X pages out of Y. It's not like the other page are grayed out, but simply not showing up at all. – LWC Dec 21 '18 at 9:14
  • And your role to those pages are Admin? – serenesat Dec 21 '18 at 9:16

    That's correct. – LWC Dec 21 '18 at 9:35
  • I am also having the same issue. I admin multiple pages, but when I try to interact/join a group, it only lists 1 of them, and not the one I want to use. – snake Jan 29 at 2:27

Hoping to find a solution let us go through the issue again using some brainstorming as well as Reductio ad Absurdum.

"When I enter a group as myself, I'm presented with the choice to join the group as one of my pages. However, the choice is just for a few of my pages and not for all of them."

  1. Please try joining the group not as yourself but as one of your pages.

"And your role to those pages are Admin? - That's correct."

And from the comments:

"I admin multiple pages, but when I try to interact/join a group, it only lists 1 of them, and not the one I want to use."

  1. Could it be that you're not the original creator of the group but "only" a later administrator?
    Would this make any difference?

  1. Also, please double check that as a group administrator you have chosen to let pages join in.
Please do note that the choice is presented to you only when you first create a group.

First time creation

  1. Any pre-existing groups will have the choice enabled by default ( as shown in the image below) but it doesn't hurt to check again.

enter image description here

  1. You are given an option whether you want to join a group as an individual or as a page, when you join a group for the first time. But since you are already a member of the group (administrator) this option may not be given to you.

So finally and as a last resort, please try leaving the specific group/s and rejoining it/them later. Join or Leave a Group

  1. If -alas- non of the above works, **go to this address and send feedback to Facebook.

I think your answer should be changed into a comment. The question is from the point of view of pages, not groups. We're talking about who could be completely regular group members who simply can't add some of their pages as members (even though they have exactly the same permissions/ownership in all their pages). – LWC May 1 at 5:34
  • As I mentioned right from the start this is not exactly an answer but rather brainstorming concerning a very peculiar situation. Still, I believe that the issues (pages/groups, groups/pages) are interlinked, so the answer could be of some help to a number of people. In any case, if you feel strongly about it and there are no useful answers presented, I would be more than happy to just delete it. I don't think it could be turned into a comment. – marikamitsos May 1 at 21:11
  • Unlike others in this site, I try to make positive suggestions, not drop points or delete. BTW, it should be mentioned group admins can't join their own groups as pages (I've tested this). You have to be non-admin in the groups to which you try to join as pages. – LWC May 2 at 20:31
  • @LWC "group admins can't join their own groups as pages". That is why I suggested leaving the group (just in case one was an admin). "I try to make positive suggestions", I never implied something else. I only reasoned the answer. – marikamitsos May 3 at 16:30
  • Okay, just note the question was about how some pages can be added while others can't. That is, you get a choice of pages to add and you only see there some of your pages, not all. – LWC May 3 at 17:39
